Ault operates through three primary actors:
  • Validators
  • Licensed Mining Nodes
  • The DAO
Each actor has a defined role within the protocol.

Validators

Validators run CometBFT consensus. They:
  • Propose and validate blocks
  • Execute transactions
  • Maintain network security
Validators earn revenue from gas fees, priority tips, and commission on staking rewards.

Licensed Mining Nodes

Licensed Mining Nodes perform protocol-defined off-chain work. At launch, their primary function is VRF-based randomness generation.
Selected nodes submit verifiable outputs during defined epochs and earn work credits.
Emissions are distributed proportionally based on those credits.

The DAO

The DAO governs protocol parameters and treasury allocations. Voting power is based on Node Licenses held by DAO Members.
Proposals require quorum and may be rejected under defined veto thresholds.

Incentive Separation

Ault separates reward flows:
  • Emissions fund Licensed Mining Nodes and staking rewards
  • Gas fees and tips fund validator security and the DAO Community Pool
